The benefits of being part of the RN Scheme

RN Football - This is a National competition for Scouts and Explorers hosted at HMS Excellent in Portsmouth usually in September.

Summer Camp - This takes place in the summer half term also at HMS Excellent, with groups from across the country coming together to take part in a wide range of activities, including sailing, canoeing, kayaking, power boating, hikes in the New Forest, and other adventurous activities while Sleeping on the HMS Bristol moored in Portsmouth Harbour.

National Swimming Gala - This takes place in January or February each year and sees RN recognised groups from across the country competing at HMS Raleigh in Devon in the Swimming pool with the usual swimming strokes and lifesaving techniques and in the skills competitions using cunning and skill to master various challenges.

Access to RN bases - We can and have arranged weekends on Military bases to do activities or just for somewhere to stay close to an activity, in the past we have also visited serving ships like HMS Exeter and various others for a guided tour.

Courses for leaders - The Navy has its own training centre and we can make use of the skills and equipment to help train our leaders, the Navy run RYA courses in Sailing and Powerboating at very reasonable rates for RN Scout leaders.
