Leaders
The Group is fortunate in having several leaders for each Section including a Young Leader Team of members who have grown up with the Group.
Our leaders have traditional Scouting skills as well as a wide range of specialist seamanship qualifications and expertise including sailing, canoeing and power-boating.
All our leaders give their time voluntarily and in some cases spend considerable periods of their annual holidays to assist in running camps and other extended events.

2nd Warwick Sea Scout Group, together with the Warwick Explorer Sea Scouts, is one of the 100 Sea Scout Groups in the UK to be officially recognised by the Royal Navy.

This privilege is jealously guarded, allowing us to take part in an annual RN Recognised Sea Scout Camp on the Destroyer HMS Bristol, the annual RN swimming and football trophy competitions and numerous other training opportunities.
Both our leaders and our young members take full advantage of the RN scheme with several of the leaders taking key roles in the running of the scheme as a whole. As a result of its wholehearted commitment, the Group is seen as one of the keystones of the RN scheme and is undoubtedly regarded as one of the best Sea Scout Groups in the UK.
Group Headquarters
The Group Headquarters is located on land leased from Warwick District Council in St Nicholas Park Warwick, alongside the River Avon. It comprises 2 floors. The first (called the Main Deck) is used for section meetings, and the ground floor (or Lower Deck), includes showers, changing rooms, and toilets. This floor is also used for storage of kayaks, buoyancy aids, camping gear, ropes and spars and the other equipment required to hand by a busy Sea Scout Group.
Additionally, the Group rents the ex-Warwick Sailing Club Hut and Compound, from the District Council. This is a short walk away on the Myton Road side of the river and is used for boat and equipment storage.
The former 4th Warwick Scout hut adjacent to St Nicholas Church is also rented by the Group and is used as a boat maintenance workshop and camping store.
Boats
The Group has a large and varied fleet of boats including sailing dinghies, a rescue boat, canoes and rowing boats, all in a range of sizes which provide opportunities for members to develop a wide range of seamanship skills.
Whilst some new boats have been given to the Group by charitable trusts many boats have been given in moderate to poor condition and have subsequently been brought up to a useable and safe standard by a team of Leaders and parents acting as shipwrights.

A Centre of Excellence and District Resource
2nd Warwick is a successful and growing Scout Group. The Scout District and County have recognised it as a centre of Scouting excellence and as a District and County resource. 2nd Warwick's leaders are actively involved in providing training and expertise to leaders of other Groups in the District and County. When possible its resources, particularly its boating facilities, are made available to these groups.
