Regatta and Family Fun Day 2017

Our Annual Regatta and Family fun day will be on Sunday 25th June 11am - 4pm at our HQ in St Nicholas Park.

Join us at our scout hut by the footbridge over the River Avon to celebrate another fun year of water activities and raise money for our new HQ appeal.

There will be games and activities on the water for everyone – adults and kids.

We will have a bouncy castle, Penny Arcade, a ‘rowing machine’ challenge, tombola, RNLI boat and other games!

For the public we will also be holding adult rowing and offering return boat rides to the castle.

Stephen Cross, the new Mayor of Warwick will also be joining us and will set off our annual duck race!

There will be a BBQ running throughout plus ice-creams, cakes and refreshments on sale – including Domino’s pizza!

At the end of the event we will be drawing our raffle with our star Prize of private return flight to Jersey – other great prizes include a Land Rover Driving experience!

The regatta also marks the last day of voting for Charity of the Year at Sainsburys Local on Coten End – please do vote for us in store or see link on our homepage to vote online too!

All welcome to come down and join in the fun, whilst supporting the new HQ appeal.

 ‘Building a Future’ Reception

During the Regatta, we are also holding a reception for local organisations, trusts and businesses who are interested in learning more about our group and our plans for the future. We are delighted to be welcoming local counsellors, members of Villages Voice Choir (who are supporting us this year) and trustees from King Henry VIII Trust and St Mary’s Trust amongst the guests.

Our ‘Build a Future’ project is about offering the best sea scouting experience to more youngsters whilst supporting the local community. We aim to increase the number of children who can join by over 50 but to achieve this we need more leaders and a larger meeting place.

As Lord Aylesford said in 1966 when opening our current HQ,

‘A headquarters is a place that should grow forever. Once it is finished it ceases to live.’

We are therefore now raising money to build for the future. Our first phase is to improve the jetties outside our current HQ and build a new boatyard alongside the hut, so that we can re-locate all our boats from the separate ‘sailing club’ site on Myton Fields and return it to parkland. We are aiming to do this during the Winter, after the Summer boating season has finished. We then need to raise funds for a new larger HQ next to St Nicholas Park Leisure Centre, which can also act as a local community resource too. We need to raise £650k and so far have secured over £135k. Once we have our new HQ, we will renovate our existing HQ into a boathouse.

We are looking for backers for our new HQ project from local businesses and the local community. Please see New HQ Appeal Page for more information or email if you can help in any way or are interested in attending our Reception at the Regatta
